How does it work?
Caffeine has an average half-life of five to six hours.
What does this mean? Half of the caffeine from a 2pm latte is still in your system at 8pm, right when you're trying to wind down. The enzyme responsible for metabolizing caffeine can vary up to 15Ă— between individuals.
Rubric's evening formula was designed to support your body's natural caffeine clearance, so an afternoon coffee doesn't cost you tomorrow.

4 in 5 adults consume caffeine daily. Nearly 1 in 3 fall short on sleep. It doesn't have to be that way.

Sleep researchers have studied what happens when caffeine is consumed at different points in the day, then measured sleep that night with objective monitoring. Their findings? caffeine consumed in the afternoon and early evening still measurably disrupts sleep hours later, well after the alerting effect has worn off and long after most people stop connecting the two.
How much this affects any one person varies widely. Caffeine is cleared by a liver enzyme whose activity differs substantially from individual to individual, which is why the same afternoon coffee can be harmless for one person and cost another an hour of sleep. If you have noticed caffeine catching up with you at night when other people seem unaffected, Rubric's evening formula was designed to support your body's natural caffeine clearance on nights like those.

Caffeine is broken down mainly by an enzyme in the liver called CYP1A2. How active this enzyme is varies a lot from person to person, which is part of why caffeine affects people differently and takes longer to clear in some than others. Indole-3-carbinol (I3C) is converted in the gut to diindolylmethane (DIM), a compound associated with CYP1A2 activity, the pathway your body already uses to break down caffeine.
This doesn't introduce a new process or force caffeine out on a set schedule. It's formulated to work alongside a process your body already carries out on its own. Results can vary from person to person, since baseline enzyme activity differs across individuals.
Caffeine sensitivity varies a lot from person to person. Some people clear caffeine slowly, so a cup of coffee in the afternoon or evening can still affect their sleep hours later.
This product is best suited for adults who are sensitive to caffeine's lingering effects, such as those who notice trouble falling asleep after afternoon or evening coffee, or who feel caffeine "hanging around" longer than they'd like. If that sounds like you, Rubric was made with you in mind.
The calming ingredients (L-theanine, saffron, ashwagandha) tend to be felt the same night. I3C is different: it's converted in the gut to DIM, a compound associated with CYP1A2 activity, the enzyme pathway involved in caffeine metabolism. That's a gradual process, which is why we recommend taking Rubric consistently for at least 2 months before judging its effect on caffeine clearance.
No. This is one of the most common questions we get.
Rubric doesn't touch caffeine's effects while they're active. You still get the same energy, focus, and boost from your coffee that you always have. What it's designed to do is help your body clear the leftover caffeine, so it's not still circulating late at night.
Rubric is formulated to support CYP1A2 activity, the liver enzyme responsible for metabolizing caffeine. It isn't designed to dull caffeine's effects or create a "need more to feel the same" cycle.
The bottom line: You don't need more coffee to compensate. You drink the coffee you already wanted.
Take two capsules daily, one to two hours before bed.
Melatonin works differently from what this product is designed to do. Our formula is focused on supporting caffeine clearance, not inducing sleep directly. Adding melatonin would shift the product from "helping your body process caffeine normally" toward a sedative approach, which isn't the direction we wanted to build around.
There's also a practical reason: melatonin is generally recommended for occasional use rather than nightly, and we'd rather address the reason you're having trouble sleeping (lingering caffeine) than add a separate sleep aid on top of it.
Both are popular in sleep blends, and both are left out for the same reason. Each one is associated with lowering the activity of CYP1A2, the liver enzyme that clears caffeine. When that enzyme slows down, caffeine's half-life gets longer, so the coffee you drank earlier stays in circulation longer and more of it is still there at bedtime.

Only here. Rubric is sold directly through this website. We are not carried in retail stores, and we do not sell on Amazon.
As a general rule, we suggest not buying dietary supplements on Amazon at all. The marketplace is full of knock-off resellers, and supplements are a common target because stock from different sellers can be mixed together in the same bin. Buying direct is the only way to know your bottle came from us, was stored correctly, and is within date.
If you see Rubric for sale anywhere other than this website, it did not come from us.
Any time, from your account, with no call required. You can skip a shipment, move a delivery date, or switch between monthly and quarterly and save an extra 5% on each shipment.
We give you a full 30 nights, because we think a week or two isn't a fair trial for a product meant to be taken consistently. As covered above, the caffeine-clearance ingredients are designed for gradual, daily use rather than a same-night effect.
Here's how it works: your 30-day window starts from the date your order is delivered. Use the product through that period, and if you're not satisfied by the end of it, just email support with your order number. There's no bottle to return, and your refund will be processed with no questions asked.
We set the window this way on purpose, to give you a fair shot at trying the product before deciding.
